A few family days away on The Houseboat Dodge
As we are currently living with my mum we decided to have a few days away together just our little family. We found a really unique houseboat just 30 minutes away in Shoreham-by-Sea.
The houseboat has been designed and created by local artist and Riverbank resident Hamish. He has used an old Dodge Fire Engine, an upturned Lifeboat, several dinghies and a whole host of other recycled items to create a relaxing, homely, inspirational, spacious retreat.
We spent our time just hanging out, reading stories, drawing, listening to old vinyls, playing the harmonium, dancing, playing games, eating and walking. Miss W was sous chef when we cooked lasagne and breakfast scrambled eggs. She loves cooking and watching cooking programmes, this is something we need to do more of with her.
Home Ed Sports Relief Sports Day and Bake Off
I organised a fun Sports Relief Sports Day and Bake Off for Home Ed families. Although a little chilly we had a great time, participating in traditional races such as running, egg and spoon and sack races, as well as giant kerplunk, bubbles and swing ball for those not interested in competing. All the children/ families bought decorated cakes and everyone voted for their favourite. We then crowned our first Home Ed Bake Off Champion.
Sports Relief is a great cause and is a great way to get together and have fun. Find out more here.
Swimathon Fun
So I signed up to swim 5K for Sports Relief; this is my second time swimming the 5K, the last time I was a little fitter!!!! I swim in memory of a close friend's dad who died of cancer, the original swimathon's supported Marie Curie Cancer. The challenge this year was also "suppose" to help me get fit again and lose weight, needless to say it was a challenge. I enjoyed it after the first 2K and even managed to finish on a length of fly!
My angel joined us for the staff team event on the Sunday and swam an amazing 22 lengths!!! I am so very proud of her, she was super determined. She got to the end of the length, moved across and pushed straight off again; just like I do when I swim. She has been watching all the swimmers all weekend and learning lots. It shows how much effort and passion she has for something she really enjoys.
I have had fun this post playing with a new photo collaging website called PicMonkey, it is great fun and I am loving the look it gives my blog.
I think I will leave it here, but will post our other Home Ed and Everyday activities at the end of March.
Keeping Active x g x
