We have been working on long 'oo' sounds and words. We listed as many as we could think of, then proceeded to dance around the room to 'Boom! Shake the Room' by D.J. Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince. Definitely a fun way to learn 'oo' sounds.
We learnt the mnemonic for the colour's of the rainbow.
"Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain"
We have been ice skating with a friend and W managed to skate by herself. She loved it and promptly said at the end "Now that I am good at skating, please can I have my own skates"!!!
We finished January by reading 'The Dressing-Up Box' by Mairi Mackinnon. It is an Usborne Very First Reading Book. It has fun, engaging pictures. It has sentences for adults/parents to read and then your child can read the next sentence. It is great to encourage children's reading, my daughter loved reading it together.
